J. Cronan Associates (VT Invstigations) is a private investigation firm licensed by the State of Vermont. It was established in June of 1999 and offers a broad range of investigative services. The firm provides clients with background searches, due diligence information, workers compensation investigations and police management consulting.

J. Cronan Associates specializes in workplace investigations for both government agencies and private industry. A distinct emphasis for the firm is investigation of workplace related issues including harassment accusations, including sexual harassment, “quid pro quo” and hostile work environment.

Mr. Cronan has 28 years of law enforcement experience as a member of the Vermont State Police.  He has conducted hundreds of criminal investigations throughout the state of Vermont.  His experience includes major crime investigations, collection of evidence, interview and interrogation techniques, case preparation for prosecution and courtroom testimony.  This experience also includes extensive training in covert undercover investigations and management of interstate conspiracy cases.

Mr. Cronan also held the position of A- Troop Commander for the uniform division of the State Police. He was responsible for the management and operations of three state police field offices in Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle and Lamoille counties. The three offices held a complement of fifty-five sworn and civilian personnel.

Mr. Cronan has conducted internal investigations for the State Police and municipal departments in the state. These investigations have been both criminal and civil in nature. Several of the cases involved issues surrounding workplace harassment. Mr. Cronan has extensive knowledge of the state policies surrounding harassment and the procedures for reporting and investigation. He has extensive experience in conducting the cases in accordance with the requirements of the collective bargaining agreements between the State of Vermont and the Vermont State Employees Association, Inc.

Mr. Cronan held the position of Assistant Criminal Division Commander for the Vermont State Police.  As such, he was responsible for the administrative and operational functions for that division on a statewide basis.  This included management of the statewide drug task forces, organized crime intelligence division, state police polygraph unit and the executive protection unit.

Mr. Cronan will serve as the lead investigator and will have supervisory responsibilities for all firm associates.
